SHEPHERD AND ALLEN OUT OF UNICORNS’ PLAYOFF MATCHES
All-rounder Romario Shepherd has returned to Guyana to play for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the 2025 Global Super League, and opening batsman Finn Allen has picked up a foot injury, meaning both will miss the San Francisco Unicorns’ playoff run which begins tomorrow, Wednesday, July 9, at the Grand Prairie Stadium, near Dallas, TX.
Romario Shepherd has gone onto become a key player in his debut season for the Bay Area franchise, taking eight wickets in five matches at an economy of 8, while Finn Allen was leading the league’s run charts until recently having hit a record-breaking 151 in the landmark first game at the Oakland Coliseum.
We’re obviously disappointed to lose two key players at this point of the tournament. We fully understand Romario’s position and personal reasons to represent his native Guyana in the Global Super League and Finn has been a great asset for us at the top of the order. However, we’ve got strong depth in both departments with batters and bowlers ready to step in and pick up where they’ve left off,” added Graham Manou.
Neither player will be replaced on the Unicorns roster for the MLC run-in.
