The San Francisco Unicorns has announced a free fan event in the Bay Area ahead of the inaugural season of Major League Cricket.

The event will be held in Central Park, Fremont, on July 8, 2023, from 5 pm-8 pm PT and will feature opportunities for fans to meet the Unicorns coach and roster of star players and a cricket clinic for ages 7-14.

The event will also offer the first opportunity for fans to purchase exclusive San Francisco Unicorns merchandise, which has been produced by cricket apparel experts Belgravia Apparel.

San Francisco Unicorn fans will have the opportunity to meet the team’s internationally renowned cricket stars, including captain Aaron Finch and his fellow AustralianT20I world champions Matthew Wade and Marcus Stoinis.

Other players who will be meeting fans and signing autographs at the event include 2019 Cricket World Cup champion Liam Plunkett, United States National Cricket Team all-rounder Corey Anderson, New Zealand T20 specialist Finn Allen, Afghanistan international Qais Ahmed, and Pakistan Super League star Shadab Khan.

Legendary Head Coach Shane Watson—a three-time Cricket World Cup winner and two-time Indian Premier League (IPL) Player of the Season—will also be meeting fans at Central Park.

Registration for the event is not required, and fans of all ages are welcome at the fan event. There will be a clinic at the event for children ages 7-14 that will require a separate registration. Information for the clinic and how to sign up can be found here: http://bit.ly/3Nsgejc.

The fan event, produced in association with the Northern California Cricket Association (NCCA) and Indus Cricket Club, occurs just under one week before The Unicorns’ first ball against MI New York on July 14 at the league’s newly-constructed venue, Grand Prairie Stadium, in Grand Prairie, TX.

The final two games of the Unicorns’ five-match schedule will move the team east to Church Street Park in Morrisville, North Carolina. Playoffs and the Championship Game will take place at Grand Prairie Stadium.

The San Francisco Unicorns will be joined by five other teams from major U.S. metropolitan areas – representing Dallas, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Seattle, and New York City – who will each feature world-renowned cricket stars on their respective rosters alongside the best talent based in the United States, playing the fast-paced and exciting T20 format of the game.

In partnership with MLC, the Unicorns are planning to build a world-class stadium in the Bay Area, which will seat up to 15,000 people and be capable of hosting major international cricket events.
