JAHMAR HAMILTON ADDED TO UNICORNS ROSTER AS INJURY COVER FOR COREY ANDERSON
The San Francisco Unicorns has announced that it has added Jahmar Hamilton to its roster for the remainder of the 2025 Cognizant Major League Cricket season as injury cover for captain Corey Anderson, who has acquired an abdominal strain.
Having undergone a scan following the Unicorns’ win over MI New York on Sunday, June 15, it has been assessed that Anderson’s injury will keep him out for a number of upcoming games, with the team’s coaching staff choosing to cover for the notable loss of the captain by adding the 2024 Unicorn Hamilton to this year’s roster.
Jahmar Hamilton adds both batting strength and wicketkeeping cover to the roster, coming into the side knowing the setup well and with good form having hit two scores of 80+ in his last two outings in the West Indies Championship for the Leeward Islands.
His Unicorns’ experience, knowledge of the MLC and its wickets, and short travel requirements, make Hamilton available for selection against the Texas Super Kings in Grand Prairie, near Dallas, this Friday, 20 June as the league leaders look to make it four wins in a row.
In Corey Anderson’s absence, Australian international all-rounder Matthew Short has been named captain of the side, a role which he also holds at Big Bash League franchise Adelaide Strikers.
Shane Watson, Head Coach of San Francisco Unicons, said: “We’re gutted for Corey to have picked up a serious injury after guiding the Unicorns to a perfect start in this year’s MLC. His leadership and all-round abilities will be missed, however, he’s helped lay the foundations for the depth that we have in our roster, and with the addition of Jahmar Hamilton, we’re adding experience, personality, and versatility to what’s been a record-breaking batting line-up this year.”
